Manager, Copywriting, Creative Services
As a Copywriter, you will be a key part of Panera Bread's growing digital team. We understand the importance of user-based, intuitive and engaging content. You will be responsible for developing and evolving content for our customer-facing e-mail, mobile, web, and desktop applications. Our copywriters must tap their innate curiosity and commitment to their craft in order to create memorable experiences across a rapidly evolving set of customer touch points. Ideal candidates should have a strong perspective on content architecture and management. The position requires both a creative thinker as well as an inherently detail-oriented mind. While working in a collaborative environment, you will be responsible for helping define and realize Panera's content strategy for its digital touch points.
Copywriting for monthly MyPanera Journal and local e-mails to Panera's 8M+ database of MyPanera members
Copywriting and editing for Panera's digital properties (Panerabread.com and MyPanera.Panerabread.com)
Generates unexpected, original and innovative ideas
Actively participates in brainstorming sessions for e-mail, online advertising and site development
Able to organize and present concepts in a clear manner
Understands brand & business objectives and translates into a compelling concept
Able to write multiple 'types' of copy: site content, instructional copy, long form creative copy, and online media
Produces white papers, copy decks and presentation materials
Collaborates with designers to ensure that design and copy are working together to translate the client's brand and realize project objectives
Takes responsibility for the project and proactively pursues ways to ensure that project objectives will be met
Clearly presents concepts and rationale for design decisions and possesses strong verbal communication skills
Listens to, acknowledges and responds to others appropriately; confidently asks questions to clarify expectations
5+ years experience as a consumer-focused copywriter, preferably on the web: strategy, e-commerce, merchandising, and/or advertising experience is essential
Familiarity with usability and voice issues required; UE writing and/or copy-editing experience a plus
Strong organizational abilities and the ability to multi-task
Results-oriented: ability to take feedback and metrics and infuse learning into go-forward action
Collaborative: ability to thrive and contribute in a team environment
Ability to see the bigger picture: understands business implications of actions/decisions
Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, on deadline
Ability to interact with leadership and other functional teams
High-level of focus & empathy; ability to "get inside" people's heads, think like them, and then produce concrete and effective content
Obsession with excellence and constantly "finding a better way"
Knowledge of the QSR/Casual Dining and/or retail industries a plus
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Advertising or equivalent preferred
