We are currently seeking a Manager, Human Resources for a non-union manufacturing plant with 250 employees located in Northwestern Connecticut. This position r eports to the Corporate VPHR with a strong dotted line to VP Manufacturing.
Acting as a Strategic HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of both Strategic and Tactical HR initiatives and for managing and developing the HR team. Additionally, while partnering with the plant’s leadership team the HR Manager will lead the development/delivery of HR programs/processes to support the overall business plan and ensure organizational capabilities.
This position requires 10+ years as a customer focused leader of the human resource function, preferably in a high tech manufacturing facility. Must have extensive and current knowledge of Connecticut labor law and a broad understanding of the principles and practices of human resources, including but not limited to Workers’ Compensation, EEO/Affirmative Action, balancing employee advocacy and business requirements (hourly through Senior Management). Must possess a good grasp of compensation practices, payroll and benefits administration, and the ability to articulate, interpret and enforce company policies. Must be detail oriented, well organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess the ability to work in a fast paced business climate with solid problem solving/decision making skills. Occasional travel may be required.
Job Duties Include :
Communicates effectively with a high level of professionalism, both verbally and in writing to all employees, as well as internal and external customers.
Working as the business partner to the manufacturing team, promotes a positive employee relations environment. Is accessible and promotes an open door policy.
Provides ongoing support and coaching/counseling to supervisors, managers and employees, both on-site and to auxiliary sites as required.
Develops and implements workforce plans, including but not limited to hourly and salaried recruiting, staffing and on-boarding strategies, employee retention programs, training and development of staff and succession planning within the manufacturing facility.
Oversees the management of Workers’ Compensation injuries to promote safety in the workplace. This includes but is not limited to compliance filing and reporting, injury oversight, return to work programs and maintaining a positive relationship with the EHS department, legal entities, medical providers and the W Compensation insurance carrier
Oversees monthly performance management of hourly workforce including compensation adjustments. Develops and supports performance improvement plans and career development, and administers disciplinary action, as needed.
Proactively monitors the work environment to identify and address trends, and areas of improvement to increase employee engagement.
Effectively and thoroughly investigates employee concerns and/or complaints with a high level of confidentiality. Follows through effectively with appropriate documentation, ensuring legal compliance. May be required to represent the Company in administrative hearings with CHRO, the CT Workers Compensation Commission, Unemployment and other agencies.
Supports the corporate benefit strategy and communicates benefit plans effectively to all employees.
Supports all company policies/procedures as required, providing counseling/clarification/guidance when required.
Effectively oversees, supports and develops the direct HR staff on location.
Actively participates in all HR department activities, including but not limited to HR strategic planning, companywide programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
