Position Summary:
The IT Manager, Manufacturing Execution Applications works directly with business leads and technical support staff to to ensure that Hillshire Brands Manufacturing Execution applications surpass ongoing business requirements. These applications include SAP MII (Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) and its integration to SAP ECC, SAP QM (Quality Management), SAP PP (Production Planning) and other plant floor applications including assisting the business with their support of MES (Siemens) and it's integration to SAP ECC and MII. This position is responsible for leading the support team, working with the business owners to define system enhancements, and lead projects to deploy new products and process enhancements based on business requirements. To accomplish this, they will work closely with the business both on-site and off-site support staff, as well as application suppliers. This position also deals with escalated incidents not resolved by IT partners or operations managers. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain Manufacturing Execution applications include

  • SAP MII Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence and it's integration to SAP ECC
  • SAP QM Quality Management
  • SAP MM Material Master
  • MES (Siemens) to MII and ECC
  • Custom GTIN Labeling system
  • SAP PP Production Planning
  • SAP PI Process Integration
This position is responsible for managing the support of these applications, leading small enhancement projects, and managing supplier deliverables for large projects

Coordinates with IT managers/sr managers to ensure appropriate integration of business functional or technical area to meet deliverables

Work with business partners to define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process enhancements

Manages workflow of enhancements between the IT and the Business

Perfoms and manages testing of application system(s)

Serves as a liaison between the business community and IT to illicit and document business requirements

Acts as functional SME in all phases of the development and implementation process as well as escalated incidents for the Operations Manager

Manages and participates in project level budgeting, including estimates, and tracking to actual project spend

Typically deals with escalated incidents not resolved by IT partners or operations manager

Recommends solutions to prevent future incidents

Validates project methodology prior to deployment to production environment (i.e. Through user acceptance testing, finds glitches and works with IT to solve them based on experience; performs tests to ensure product meets performance requirements)

Participates in future development of IT applications

Responsible for regular engagement of IT partner resources to ensure their knowledge and skills are acceptable

Coach IT partners, manage supplier team relationships

Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree in IT or a relevant field of work; equivalent experience considered

Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant professional work experience

Prior management, supervisory, or team leader experience is desirable

Experience working with virtual and/or outsourced teams a definite plus

Configuration experience with SAP production planning and scheduling is required

Experience with SAP MII, QM is a plus

Experience and deep knowledge SAP and the integration of MES or MII to SAP ECC, IDOCs, PI, etc.

Comprehensive knowledge of Manufacturing systems and processes

Technical and functional knowledge and experience in SAP Manufacturing applications required

Strong team player with a high level of interpersonal skills

Strong Quality and Customer Satisfaction Orientation

Strong Planning and Project Management Skills, including problem solving skills

Strong system development process and methodology skills

Ability to manage and lead small projects

Exposure to requirements gathering and writing functional specifications

Ability to travel.
