Provide the leadership needed to build Corporate IT Infrastructure and develop a deep technical IT System Administration team. This position will be responsible for day to day management of a team of system administrators that will build and evolve scalable Corporate IT Infrastructure working with other infrastructure teams like data center ops, production ops engineering, information security etc.
This leadership position will be responsible for the technical roadmap development, technology selection and delivery of IT infrastructure and system administration projects.
A successful Engineering Manager will:

Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to the recognition of your engineers and not just yourself.
Initiate cross-function collaboration with other Twitter infrastructure teams
Seek diverse perspectives to drive bottom-up innovation and create buy-in from all technical stakeholders inside and outside the team.
Ensure the team fully understands the goals and objectives of Twitter as a company and how their work fits into 'the bigger picture.'
Manage day to day responsibilities of IT System Administration team
Hire and close qualified technical candidates for the team
Work closely with other infrastructure engineering teams to implement and manage corporate infrastructure- OS, Storage, Servers, DNS/DHCP, LDAP etc.
Drive technical architecture development for Corporate IT infrastructure
Help evaluate tools and technologies for Corporate infrastructure
Work with the team to troubleshoot advanced issues with hardware, software, applications, and network
Prior experience managing at least 7-8 member IT system administrator team
Experience in fast paced IT environment
5-7 years of Linux/Unix systems administration experience
Expert knowledge of troubleshooting tools (i.e tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute)
Systems administration-level knowledge of HTTP/Apache, DNS/BIND, SSH, SNMP, NFS, Puppet, Cacti, Nagios
Shell scripting and Perl, Python, and/or Ruby
Experience with performance tuning, package installation, patch management updates, and server management issues
B.S. in Computer science or equivalent experience.
Strong Windows/Mac experience
Experience writing tools and automation to help with day to day tasks.
Previous experience with VOIP implementation a huge plus
