Job Summary:
The Manager will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and management of evidence-based clinical practices that focus on infection prevention and enhance the infection control program for Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland.

The Manager, Infection Control works closely and collaboratively with the Vice President of Institutional Quality and the Medical Director of Infectious Disease and other members of the management team and Infection Control Committee.

Position Requirements:
Bachelors degree required, healthcare related preferred. Current California RN license. Board Certification in Infection Control Preferred. Legal Nurse Consultant preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years experience in Infection Control oversight with a record of achieving performance goals.
Licensure/Certification: Licensed Registered Nurse
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of functional medical terminology. Knowledge of hospital applications, as applicable, for data entry, report/document development, and report generation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations as they pertain to privacy and security of protected health information. Knowledge of regulatory requirements TJC Standards, CMS, CDPH regulations, state and federal regulatory agency requirements standards and regulations. Knowledge of Performance Improvement methodologies to include teambuilding, intense analysis techniques, and gap analysis strategies. Independent judgment and clear decision-making ability. Capacity to effectively lead interdisciplinary teams and work groups. Knowledge of project management techniques. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and aggressive project deadlines. Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Effective organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain standards of performance under changing conditions. Ability to disseminate information effectively and independently with all CHRCO managers & staff with enthusiasm and humor. Experience working in an organization/community with a diverse medical staff, workforce and patient population. Ability to schedule and prioritize for self and/or others, to handle multiple activities and to meet deadlines. Understanding of and appreciation for the culture and environment associated with managing clinical risk in a complex medical center operating in a rapidly growing, highly competitive environment. Ability to work with clinical, administrative and support staff to minimize clinical risk while supporting them in reaching their clinical, financial and service objectives.
