John Hancock Funds is the Mutual Fund business unit of the John Hancock Wealth Management division. Mutual Funds distributes its products through an extensive and broadening distribution network comprised of multiple channels. The products distributed extend across a full range of asset classes, including equity, fixed income and asset allocation strategies. The Mutual Fund business unit represents a key segment targeted for growth over the next several years.
In this newly created position, the Manager, Legal Entity Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the preparation of U.S. GAAP audited financial statements for annual regulatory filings, quarterly IFRS/U.S. GAAP analysis, oversight of the business unit account reconciliation process and management of the quarterly consolidation process.
Participate in the external financial reporting process including the preparation of annual U.S. GAAP audited financial statements and footnotes.
Prepare financial statements and footnotes analysis and other ad-hoc analysis as required.
Prepare quarterly consolidating equity pickup and elimination entries and corresponding equity rollforwards for the legal entities that comprise the Mutual Funds business unit.
Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliation reports for the legal entities.
Record various monthly tax entries and prepare corresponding tax account reconciliations.
Review and manage the account reconciliation process for the business unit.
Prepare quarterly IFRS/U.S. GAAP analysis for U.S. Finance.
Assist with external audit requests.
Assist in monitoring and completing research relating to new U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting pronouncements and FINRA regulations.
Identify and implement process improvement recommendations.
About John Hancock:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience
- Prior financial services industry experience preferred
- Prior U.S. GAAP reporting experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including consolidation concepts and practices.
- IFRS knowledge preferred, but not required.
- Series 27 license desirable.
- Advanced analytical and inquiry skills to understand legal entity financial statements.
- Knowledge of Lawson general ledger and Essbase tools preferred.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and footnotes in accordance with regulatory requirements and timelines.
