Manage Supply/Demand game plan to optimize freight while insuring reliable delivery of product to end use blend locations. Negotiate third party asset contracts to insure ample coverage for game plan execution. Manage scheduling group for proper plan execution to minimize product outage situations.
Work with Business Development, Supply and Analytical team to affect seamless delivery from production or storage points to ultimate blend locations.
Meet with rail and truck carriers to discuss detail needs for coming season. Negotiate acceptable rates for transportation assets. Make sure all third party providers comply with all state, federal and company safety rules and regulations.
Present game plan to scheduling group. Work with scheduling group to understand expectations and supply arrangements for each unique demand geography. Monitor daily fluctuations from plan and adjust accordingly.
Review and approve truck and rail freight, FSC, throughput, demurrage, lease and detention charges.
Participate in internal discussions, planning sessions and external meetings regarding truck and rail regulations as required. Be involved with local, state and federal officials and represent at regional and national events.
Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Three to five years of transportation operations experience of which at least two years were in a supervisory capacity. Background with Class 1 Railroads and Rail Car Leasing companies is desired.
Demonstrated experience in the negotiation and administration of carrier contracts, transportation service agreements, operating and maintenance agreements. Customer service and effective organizational, analytical and communications skills are required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel and other data base applications
