The Manager, On-Air Planning is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that provide the most effective and impactful utilization of the on-air inventory assets to increase ratings. Partner with Programming, Marketing, Ad Sales and Research to ensure maximization of financial resources and coordination of business plan goals. The Manager oversees and implements the promotion optimization tools to maximize reach and frequency of promotion campaigns, as well as evaluation tools to determine effectiveness of campaigns. Additionally, this role is responsible for interpreting research and post mortem analyses of promotional campaigns.


· Responsible for all on-air network media strategy planning for Hallmark Movie Channel to drive viewership and traffic, while building and sustaining strong brand recognition through the management and scheduling of all on-air elements and to achieve Reach and Frequency and vertical and horizontal flow of broadcast logs.

· Assimilate needs and strategies of all departments into comprehensive on-air plans while maintaining the Hallmark Brand

· Create and execute cross-channel strategies to help support the company’s growth while navigating audience between both channels

· Develop and manage comprehensive weekly promotion campaign plans using GripIt! on-air scheduling software

· Partner with Creative Services to order all promotions needed for on-air campaigns, providing them with deadlines, lengths, and versions

· Collaborate with Operations department to ensure that planned media airs as anticipated

· Assist Director with Hallmark Channel planning


· Bachelor’s Degree

· Minimum 3 years’ experience as developer of promotional scheduling

· Previous experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint)

· Previous experience with GripIt!, Traffic systems, and FileMaker


· Solid analytical skills-set in order to sell-in promotional scheduling strategy

· Ability to develop on-going partnerships with key internal partners to fully understand a promotional strategy for on-air media

· Creative ability to identify scheduling opportunities that maximize the on-air inventory asset

· Demonstrated desire to keep growing technical skill/analytical skills and business acumen

· Strong negotiator of win-win solutions

· Enjoys a fast-paced, evolving environment that encourages challenging status quo thinking
