Plans, organizes and coordinates with the supervision of the Associate Director, State & External Relations, activities related to outreach with the payor community. Cultivates new and nurtures existing relationships with entities that administer health benefits or pay/process health-related claims, including non-profit, investor-owned and governmental entities. Participates in meetings of the Business Advisory Group. Provides formal education and information to central office, surveyors and external groups.
Bachelor's degree in public health, healthcare administration or policy, or a related field. Master's preferred. Five to ten years experience in benefits management/administration with a managed care organization, care provider or purchaser, or equivalent healthcare experience. Demonstrated knowledge of Joint Commission policies and procedures, analytical experience and public speaking prowess. Must be flexible, handle fast-paced environment, and have ability to work independently. Strong verbal and written skills necessary to effectively and positively cultivate supportive relations with various public and private payor organizations, consultants and other organizations. Excellent analytical, decision-making, organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Strong computer skills also desirous. Travel required up to 25% including weekends as needed.
