The Manager of Project Management reports to the Director of eCommerce Systems Project Management and is a key position at Macys.com that is responsible for leading a team of technical and business project managers for the eCommerce Systems (CSS) group. The CSS group is responsible for application architecture, performance tuning, new feature development, monthly release support, and production support for 12 systems that support the Macys.com site and internal teams across the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in successfully managing complex teams developing software development projects. They must have a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and proven experience in various SDLC, agile and iterative development. Practical experience working with Lean/Agile methodology is highly desirable. He or she will be adept in defining and implementing effective processes in project execution, and will have excellent communication and consensus building skills.
Own project plans, estimates, technical documentation, deliverable lists, project management methodology and the overall development of the project.
Assure project managers own and drive detailed communication plans for each project/program.
Monitor team health and coach team members to optimally perform.
Balance project time, resources and scope to ensure that projects support the business with a positive ROI and low risk of system failure.
Ability to assess the project and team needs in order to successfully follow a disciplined project management methodology. Provide leadership and management to entire project team and stakeholders.
Provide a single point of coordination to gain executive sponsorship, streamline communication, ensure common understanding of development plans, facilitate change management, and implement tracking and status reporting.
Align with the core project team to ensure business needs are addressed with the features and functionality in the final software product.
Facilitate accurate time estimation from the developers.
Responsible to document, audit, and train CSS staff on published SDLC process ensuring SOX compliance to corporate standards.
Bachelor's degree in IT-related field.
At least five years of experience in project management with proven enterprise software development projects.
Experience managing teams through the full software development project lifecycle of medium to large scale projects, from requirements through to production release on numerous implementations.
Strongly familiar with and ability to apply various software methodology approaches including Lean/Agile.
Proven ability to gain respect from and lead software development teams.
Ability to break down project phases into technical tasks and sub-tasks to delegate to appropriate development personnel.
Experience presenting to and working with senior management.
Knowledge of enterprise application development is critical.
High-level of proficiency with Microsoft Project is a must. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills is required.
Proven project management skills with experience in large software development projects.
Strong leadership and management skills in working with technical personnel to deliver complex iterative projects.
Ability to facilitate and drive resolution of complex business and technical problems associated with software development project efforts.
Ability to create, refine and implement process and methodology.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Must have strong analytical skills.
Excellent English communications skills.
Demonstrated leadership and attention to detail
Preferred: PMP Certification, CSM Certification.
Project management experience on large development software projects.
Experience in managing Project Managers.
