Develops, implements, and manages global/regional commodity strategies designed to leverage BorgWarner collective purchasing power and maximize synergistic opportunities to optimize supplier performance, reduce total supply costs while meeting our technology expectations throughout the supply chain.
Manages all aspects of Purchasing, Supplier Development/Quality and MRO stores operations.
Develops and implements complex strategies and commodity forecasts for the facility.
Plans and determines the organizational structure and line authority connected within the Purchasing department.
Ensures that all purchasing activities are executed to achieve the short and long term business strategy along with the operating and financial objectives.
Manages talent within team including conducting performance reviews.
Staffs, trains, and drives continuous improvement into the business processes for all purchasing disciplines.
Provides guidance and approval of basic supplier agreements.
Develops supplier capabilities to meet company requirements.
Establishes, nurtures, maintains, and enlarges key supplier relationships.
Participates as a member of the extended management team to formulate policies, procedures, and strategies for the business and to direct it toward achieving its objectives.
Implements programs and processes that strive to continually reduce the amount of working capital.
Implements continuous improvement programs and negotiates long term contracts with suppliers that result in cost savings.
Maintains knowledge of market conditions, anticipates market changes and recommends appropriate actions.
Introduces the organization to new technical developments in materials that will help the organization achieve its objectives.
Creates value by optimizing all aspects of the supply chain.
Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related field. MBA is preferred.
Professional Purchasing Certification (i.e. CPM or equivalent) is highly preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in purchasing required.
Demonstrated leadership skills are required.
Experience in Low Cost Country Sourcing is required.
Experience using SAP or similar system required.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Knowledge of TS16949 and ISO 14001 is preferred.
Some travel is required, both foreign and domestic.
