Job Description:
Directs the activities of buyers and purchasing agents responsible for the external negotiation and purchase of raw materials, parts, supplies, and services at minimum cost, consistent with delivery requirements and quality specifications.

Directs procurement activities of buyers. Responsible for the outcome of team procurement negotiations and supplier management. Establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner. Coordinates procurement activities with user representatives to develop procurement programs and plans. Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality and price commitments. Continually assesses market conditions that may affect procurements. Supervises the negotiation of blanket orders and long-term purchase agreements covering procurement or major commodities. Responsible for the interface between company and suppliers on quality, engineering and procurement matters. Responsible for the development and implementation of commodity strategies to establish long-term sourcing.

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least 8 years relevant experience. May expect MBA.

Requires extensive knowledge of purchasing policies and practices. Has broad expertise including purchasing for lean manufacturing, Kanban and supplier development. Requires excellent negotiation abilities and strong analytical skills. Shows exceptional verbal and written communication skills including with executives or in international contexts. Requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control. Must have knowledge of economic principles and financial markets. Must be able to direct and evaluate the work of a procurement team. Competent in computerized procurement systems. Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. May require MS Access experience.



Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze supply markets,
understand and manage risks/opportunities.
Manages interface with Corporate
Procurement and insures that forecasts, purchasing protocols,
procedures and performance are timely & within Company, ISO9001
and SOX guidelines.
Reduce prices, gain enhanced
commercial terms and provide improved service through the development
of suppliers for production materials, MRO supplies and
Develop and implement a process
to achieve maximum cost savings, measure and track supplier
performance and enhance strategic sourcing through well-defined
Utilize Lean principles to
support/enhance supplier flexibility and lead-times to meet customer
needs with minimum inventory investment.
Oversees purchasing support of
new product introductions and ECN’s to meet agreed upon
schedule tollgates, costs and quality expectations.

Guide, direct, and develop
purchasing team of ten to meet organizational goals.
