There is a strong preference for this position to be based in the San Francisco office but applicants who wish to be based in our Washington DC office will also be considered

Manager, Account Management
The Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with hospitals and health systems that are active members of the Advisory Board's best practice research programs with the goal of securing renewal of membership contracts. The Manager plays a critical role in crafting strategy on how to best serve this constituency and support our relationships with the larger hospital executive team.

The Manager is expected to become familiar with each of our healthcare membership programs in order to effectively communicate services and deliverables. In addition, this position creates a unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive knowledge of the major players in healthcare and the issues that they face in the marketplace.

Specific responsibilities :
  • Foster relationships with key decision makers and main points of contact at member hospitals/health systems and proactively manage these relationships throughout the year to optimize the value of the Advisory Board research programs
  • Secure annual renewal of membership contracts and corresponding service terms at a rate that meets or exceeds given performance goals: including renewal rates, price adherence
  • Monitor and communicate member interests and 'hot topics' to the health care research teams on a regular and ongoing basis
  • Develop effective strategies for maintaining visibility of services and deliverables at member institutions
  • Conduct new member orientations by phone or traveling to member institutions
  • Establishing and executing specific initiatives outlined in member service plans
  • Develop an understanding of budgeting and approval processes at member institutions in order to accurately track and project revenue

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University
  • Must possess a minimum of 2 year's post undergrad experience in at least two of the following:
    • Presentation experience
    • Leadership experience
    • Commercial experience
    • Client Management experience
    • Teaching experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, with senior executives
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Valid Driver's License
