The nation's largest child advocacy association, National PTA, currently has an opening for a Manager, Resource Development and Corporate Alliances located in Alexandria, Virginia. The Manager, Resource Development and Corporate Alliances is responsible for the identification and solicitation of individual, foundation, and corporate donors for National PTA.

Reporting to the Director, Resource Development, this individual manages fundraising strategies that include the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual and major gifts from board members, PTA members and leaders, friends and other supporters, including personal solicitations, proposals, online, and direct mail.
The Manager, Resource Development and Corporate Alliances will also support the organization’s fundraising efforts by researching and seeking out new opportunities for foundation and corporate funding support; writing and submitting foundation grant proposals; overseeing relationships with new and existing foundation and corporate donors; ensuring compliance with stewardship and reporting requirements; and assisting in other Resource Development activities.

The Manager, Resource Development and Corporate Alliances will also be responsible for the following:

Plan, develop and implement a strategic plan of action with objectives, timelines and evaluation plans for all individual giving programs that includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of constituents.

Create and administer programs and activities to solicit gifts from board members, PTA members and leaders, parents, friends and other supporters including personal solicitations, proposals, online, and direct mail.

Develop messaging, promotional materials, and stewardship plans for the individual giving program.

Responsible for the development, implementation and marketing of planned gifts and management of all aspects of a Planned Giving Program.

Oversee the acknowledgment and recognition of all contributions, including acknowledgement letters, the annual report to donors and donor recognition event.

Responsible for writing and submitting individual, foundation and corporate grant proposals and reports.

Conduct individual, corporate, and foundation prospect research, create prospect profiles and manage prospect-tracking system.

Manage and track prospects and donors utilizing fundraising management software. Maintain accurate records of correspondence, reporting and relationship features and capture in database.

Monitor and coordinate accounting activities related to fundraising efforts and prepare internal reports for management. Participate in budget planning process as needed.

Maintain highest level of confidentiality of donor and potential donor information

Performs other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Minimum 5 years fundraising experience is required, including experience in donor relations, direct solicitations, grant writing and program development and management.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail is required.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines is required.

Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements is essential.

Knowledge and understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements and procedures is needed.

Requires an outgoing and poised individual that can work well with National PTA staff, board volunteers and leadership, as well as potential donors.

Must possess the ability to work independently while keeping supervisor apprised of opportunities, issues, problems and progress.

Willingness to travel is required, including overnight and weekend travel.

Working knowledge of computers, preferably in a PC, windows based operating environment. Competency in MS Office is required.
