Manager, Solutions Development

Reports To: Director, Product Development

Direct Reports: Product Development Manager, Senior Product Development Manager

Location: Town & Country, MO

Description of Responsibility

Manager, Solutions Development is responsible for managing a team of Product Development managers which are accountable for the successful integration of new product offerings into the corporate data system. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations through the development and implementation of standardized processes for product creation focused on completing all necessary development, testing, process and approval steps necessary for launching new commercial offerings as well as providing sustaining support for existing commercial offerings.

Candidates for this position must have a strong ability to drive business process changes, and to quickly manage projects to completion. This position will require the ability to manage and support team projects, as well as, individual projects for which they are directly accountable.

Position Objectives

  • Participate in the shaping of product and engineering specifications which will lead to the successful and efficient development of the technical components required for a functional product.
  • Act as a project lead on all projects assigned and establish timelines and milestones required for each project.
  • Sequence and effectively assist Product Developers and team members during the product development process.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with other organizations and work with each functional team to create and execute a strategy for each project.
  • Provide guidance and feedback on Product Development related tasks, roles and responsibilities and be a leader in evaluating and improving how Product Development functions.
  • Be a key contributor in the growth and development of Product Development team skills by creating and maintaining internal process documentation.
  • Subject matter expert with regards to standardized and customized commercial and technical models utilized to support the desired product needs.
  • Ability to work with impacted parties within the BSS and OSS development teams to craft clear and effective business requirements associated with quoting, pricing, billing, performance monitoring, data collection, event management, and service management.
  • Responsible for the ongoing development and growth of their direct reports including goal setting and goal attainment.
Essential Duties

  • Review and evaluate new prioritized product concepts or existing service gaps at the product level and/or customer level.
  • Identify, participate, and document solutions that address or streamline the experience of our most complex accounts.
  • Develop a project plan and clear documented steps designed to achieve stated objectives.
  • Identify and maintain standardized commercial models including validation and notification of necessary financial tracking and metrics required to support the product requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation and training material for new and existing products including order and billing processes as well as other processes required for the successful launch of services using technical writing skills.
  • Ongoing maintenance and changes required to support the life cycle of a product including pricing and billing changes.
  • Work closely with Solutions Program Management regarding timeline management including delivery of key milestones and delivery dates for required development tasks.
  • Work directly with downstream development organizations including delivery of business requirements and direct participation in design sessions intended to fill the stated gaps.
Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years project management experience
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience
o Managed Hosting\Security\Colocation

o IP Networking\Media Services

o Data Center Infrastructure\Wide Area Networks

o Virtualized Services

  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently
  • Excellent and proven problem solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio
  • Solid understanding of product development and best practices

  • Hosting, Network, Financial services provider experience
