Manage the planning, presentation and development of a wide range of visitor enhancement programs
such as animal encounters, exhibit presentations, discovery carts, and aquarium wide special events that inspire visitors and promote conservation actions. These programs reach the 1.4 million visitors that attend the aquarium on an annual basis. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Programs department to ensure the best program coverage for the visitor experience. Assist the Director with program selection and evaluation, as well as staff hiring and evaluation. Work in cooperation with other departments to maintain quality experience. Work with Volunteer Services to train exhibit guide volunteers in interpretive techniques and science content in order to provide quality visitor experiences. Work with Visitor Services to provide daily program information to front line staff, which enhances customer service. Work with Biological Programs staff to provide information for interpretation and coordinate animal handling protocols. In order to maintain a connection with front line activities, this position continues to provide interpretation for approximately one fifth of their schedule. Works weekends, evenings and special events frequently, supervising Visitor Programming.

Bachelor’s degree in science or science coursework and 3 years equivalent related science experience required. Three years previous informal teaching experience required. Three years in a supervisory position required. Effective use of computers in a work environment also required. Microsoft Office experience useful.
