Job Summary:
Provides training and mentoring to new Conductors.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a safety plan for less than two year employees. Participate in Division operational testing and meetings. Ensure the CSX Core Value "Safety is a Way of Life" is embedded in all new hires and training programs. Lead by example in safety, work to support safety action plans designed to address leading indicators and develop employee safety mindset. Stay current and knowledgeable of all safety, operating, and hazardous materials rules and procedures.

Evaluate and provide feedback to the Staffing organization through training and observation while identifying high potential employees for the internal MT program.

Facilitate consistency of training; compliance with rules and best practices. Deliver and manage the conductor training programs on multiple divisions and locations. Facilitate classroom sessions, document progress of assigned students, and maintain quality records. Ensure training evaluations meet or exceed requirements. Develop training schedule with local management.

Manage training within budget with the goal of continuously reducing costs.

Assist trainees with payroll issues, maintain training files, and handle trainee rejections.

Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED or Associates degree from an accredited institution required

3 or more years of experience required in Mechanical, Engineer/Maintenance of Way (MOW), Transportation, Railroad Operations, Education, or Training / Facilitation

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

:

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution required

1 or more years of experience required in Mechanical, Engineer/Maintenance of Way (MOW), Transportation, Railroad Operations, Education, or Training / Facilitation

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of training development

Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements

Knowledge of CSX mainframe, TrainingTrax, Gateway

Knowledge of applicable Association of American Railroads (AAR) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Regulatory Standards

Verbal communication skills

Project management skills

Microsoft Office skills

Ability to communicate effectively with senior departmental leadership

Job Requirements:
50% travel required.

On the road as often as daily within assigned territory.

Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, work boots, safety vest, face shield and safety glasses.

Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek and various shift work.

Individuals holding this job may be required to relocate.

Work hours include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be on weekends or outside standard working hours.

Willing and able to work different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (including working weekends and holidays).

Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home.

Need to be available to report to work with two-hour advance notice.

Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol.

The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.

Environmental Conditions:
Work inside an office environment.

Work outside in all weather conditions.

Work in confined spaces.

Work at elevated heights, in certain instances in excess of 100 feet.

Work with equipment that intensifies the heat factor.

Work with hazardous materials on an occasional basis.
