Scope: As a member of the Procurement Leadership team the Manager Direct Materials will be an active participant in setting overall procurement strategy both organizational as well as performance metrics. The Manager of Direct Materials will focus their team on execution of strategy to meet the priorities.
Lead the development of commodity strategy across all direct materials.
Drive priorities consistent with overall purchasing strategy as developed in the Procurement Leadership Team
Set consistent metrics that are aligned with business needs
Evaluate and set action plan for Low Cost Country sourcing and Supplier Development
Coach and mentor the direct team to build competencies throughout the organization.
Develop and implement policy and processes within direct materials to drive towards standardization.
Proven purchasing success in program development and execution
Good communicator that can motivate a team
Solid mentoring and coaching capability
Global negotiation experience (not necessary to live overseas but travel and conduct business globally)
High expectations to keep metrics moving forward
Organizational experience. Help build purchasing succession plan.
BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Logistics, Business Accounting or Technical Fields.
Strong strategic focus with a minimum of 10+ years experience in Procurement/Stores/Logistics/ Engineering with a background in purchasing materials in support of complex manufacturing (chemical) operations.
Working knowledge of procurement systems, purchasing policies/procedures, and purchasing law is required.
Must have strong abilities in negotiation, team building, innovation, and change management.
