The Vons Division’s Human Resources Department, located in Arcadia, California, has an opening for a Manager Division Human Resources I . This position reports to Director, Human Resources.
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
•4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
•Supervisory experience of clerical support staff
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with multi levels of Company management and staff
•HR experience, including employee record keeping and retention and employment salary administration
•Broad knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and government regulated areas - labor laws, wage & hour, unemployment, social security and state/federal family medical leave
•Excellent communication skills, including speaking and training
•Proven leadership skills
•Demonstrated experience in teambuilding
•Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and PeopleSoft
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Manage division HR Office Assistant staff to ensure Human Resource department initiatives/metrics are achieved
•Support retail employment team and ensure all new hire paperwork validation and processing is handled appropriately and in accordance with company policy and procedures
•Serve as Retail and Backstage payroll and employee records liaison to Phoenix ESC
•Supervise time and attendance system (Workbrain) and proper handling of electronic personnel files
•Ensure Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims and SDI Verification requests are handled timely and appropriately
•Manage drug test administration including pre-employment, post-accident, and probable cause
•Review and verify union step promotions, transfers, demotions and terminations
•Coordinate union retail performance appraisal process
•Ensure division data integrity as it relates to payroll records, employee data and provide accurate related reporting as requested
•Administer and coordinate annual benefit communication to non-union employees
•Provide payroll and personnel record information related to investigation, litigation and wage and hour claims as requested
•Enforce division compliance with regard to company policies and procedures and applicable state and federal law related to benefit, wage and hour compliance, and related areas
•Support all division Employee Engagement and Valuing Diversity Initiatives
•Other HR support and oversight as assigned
