Job Description

Job Summary: Manages a group or groups which perform a variety of financial studies to analyze and report interrelationships of financial information. Determines validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached. Uses data to project future short- and long-term scenarios and anticipated results.

Functional Requirements:
Manages all financial analyses, assignments, or projects for area of responsibility.

Ensures financial analyses and reports are prepared accurately, on time, and in compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Performs analysis, prepares reports, and conducts research and special projects as required.

Prepares future short- and long-term financial projections, reconciles actual results against projections, and explains variances.

Analyzes financial information to develop financial trends and recommendations to senior management. Reconciles systems and ledgers.

Develops tactical plan to support strategic plan.

Participates in setting goals and targets for individual department.

Coordinates and develops budgets for all projects in assigned area for review and approval by upper management. Reviews and approves vendor/consultant invoices.

Ensures compliance of budgets and administrative practices/procedures.

Responsible for timely and accurate reporting. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Full people management responsibility.

Responsible for effective hiring, firing, promotions, and performance appraisals and management, salary administration, training assessments and development plans, etc. for staff.

Job Requirements

Typical Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent business experience.

8+ years financial analysis experience in a public or private company; insurance industry experience preferred.

2 yrs. experience directing projects and/or staff. CPA or MBA degrees preferred.

Thorough knowledge of financial reporting practices, principles and legal requirements.

Thorough knowledge of internal issues related to area supported.
