An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Manager, Health Safety & Environmental within Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT) business located in Shreveport, LA . This position will be responsible for coaching, mentoring & leading Health Safety, Environmental (HS&E) and Security programs and activities within this catalyst manufacturing facility.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Drive HSE Strategy Deployment to drive Zero-Incident-Culture (ZIC) to achieve 0-0-0 goals.
  • Lead strategic and tactical programs with the site staff to improve performance, and sustainability.
  • Work with the regional HSE team to support key site focus areas and project plan development.
  • Evaluate and improve the HSE site training strategy, policy revision, employee development, effective decision making.
  • Manage Compliance Audits, Self Audits and Action Item tracking to timely closure. .
  • Drive Honeywell Operating System HOS and HSE Integration for the site.
  • Drive cost improvements in HSE services and supplies.
  • Coordinate employee driven safety committees.
  • Develop trend analysis and appropriate action plan.
  • Directs the site safety, health, environmental and security programs.
Including : Title V, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plant (SWPPP), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA), Hazardous Waste Part B, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) ), OSHA, Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Manages interactions with outside Environmental support / consulting groups and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Provides expertise during concept and design phases of manufacturing processes to ensure that sound Health Safety & Environmental control methodologies are integrated into design and supporting Management of Change (MOC).
  • Provide technical support to the plant Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations.
  • Accountable for supporting and completing departmental goals.
  • Conduct routine audits to identify any deficiencies and develop appropriate corrective actions to assure the protection of the environment and maintaining full compliance with applicable government regulations, permits, Health Safety, Environmental and Security policies and procedures.
  • Develop and give environmental presentations to Plant and Senior Leadership.
  • Lead /participate in root cause investigations as necessary any environmental incidents and ensure that all required reports are made in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Effectively interfaces with personnel at all organizational levels and state or federal regulators.
  • Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping.
  • Utilize six-sigma, Lean tools and behavior-based safety strategies to guide injury prevention efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety, Environmental and Security guidelines.
  • Lead, coach and train Emergency Response Team Members. Conduct emergency drills.
  • Drive Incident investigations; work with leaders on timely corrective action closure.
  • Share Regional “Best Practices”. Identify Raising the Bar opportunities.
  • Assist in developing training modules and conducting training.
  • Work with Contractors (compliance audits, safety improvements plans, meet weekly with project coordinator, conduct quarterly contractor safety meetings, etc.).
  • Participate in GRC Audits (Loss Prevention).
  • Conduct Life Critical Refresher training.
  • Conduct and review Life Critical performance audits.
  • Conduct compliance assessments (walking/working surfaces, machine guarding, confined space entry reviews, lockout tag out, etc.).
  • Security Contract Management.
Basic Candidate Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental role within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience is required.
Additional Candidate Qualifications:
  • Effective leadership skills in small and large groups in all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of water disposal, injection wells and surface impoundments.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety Health Agency (OSHA) regulations, policy development, field implementation and audits.
  • HSE, Security and Emergency Response Leadership and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of EPA and Louisiana Statue air, water.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound recommendations, decisions, and project plans that secure the continuing operation of the business.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (training/presentation, team collaboration and communication) with the ability to influence others.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment to meet customer and business needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of water disposal, injection wells and surface impoundments.
  • Preferably trained in the following: Annual Regulatory Safety Training, Certified Apollo Root Cause Leader, Hazardous Material Specialist Level Training plus Incident Command, OSHA 30 hour training,
  • Been part of a growth facility - expansion of equipment, increase in production, increase in headcount. Been part of a successful team in preparing and complying with all HSE and preparing new personnel for a safe and productive integration into the operations.
  • Experience in large site, multi-site or corporate HSE leadership.
