THIS RECRUITMENT WILL GENERATE A 6-MONTH ELIGIBLE LIST TO FILL CURRENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES FOR THE MANAGER III (BRANCH MANAGER) POSITIONS AT ALL BRANCH LOCATIONS WITHIN MCPL.
The current vacancies exist at Davis Library and Damascus Library, however, are subject to change.

Library hours of operation are Sunday through Saturday including nights. Individual schedules will vary based on customer service needs. Sunday hours may be required at any branch.

This is professional library administrative work having full accountability for management of a library branch in Montgomery County Public Libraries. Employee will serve as a branch manager overseeing the provision of direct service and assistance to library customers. Duties include: assessing human resources and customer needs, planning goals and objectives for the branch, overseeing the supervision and performance evaluations of branch staff, coordinating collection development activities, and establishing, maintaining, and improving communications and working relationships with diverse community groups, advisory committees, and the news media using a variety of social and traditional media methods.
As a manager/supervisor of unionized employees, this position has a responsibility for fostering a positive labor relations environment based on mutual trust, respect and cooperation.

Education: . Master's Degree in Library Science or Library Information Science from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association.
Experience : Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in organizational management related to library experience.
Equivalency: No equivalency applies.
Licensure : Employees will be responsible for maintaining appropriate level of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to sustain State licensure requirements for this position

Based on the results of Preferred Criteria evaluation, applicants will be rated as either "Qualified" or "Well Qualified". The highest rated applicants will be placed on the Eligible List and may be considered for an interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are same grade or higher will be placed on Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for an interview. Experience in using a variety of tools in assessing community needs, and planning and implementing services in response to diverse populations' needs and interests. Experience in supervisory capacity in a public library. Experience in conducting staff training, performance evaluations, and staff development. Experience in team building/coordination skills. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating a broad range of projects. Experience in using a wide range of software and electronic devices. Experience in using social media to communicate library services and materials. Experience providing exceptional customer service in a public library environment.
