POSITION PURPOSE -
Support SVP of Merchandising, VP of Finance - Merchandising, MVP's, and Manage group of Merchandising Analysts that provide financial decision support for Merchandising. This individual should be the SVP's partner in making decisions with a financial impact including managing the roll out of programs through the Operations group. Often is the center of activity for any significant Merchandising decision requiring financial screening to understand whether the decision is accretive or dilutive to earnings. Requires knowledge of systems, finance, retail accounting and the merchandising category under review. The knowledge of systems is required to mine data and create spreadsheets to support analysis of the decision. The knowledge of finance is required to understand which financial elements should be reviewed and their impact to earnings. Retail accounting is the method used to calculate gross margin for Home Depot. This knowledge is required to accurately value and communicate the financial elements impacting earnings with the Leadership in order to understand the approach for financial analysis. Contributes expertise across all functional business units.

Special projects; Creating financial spreadsheets for ad hoc analysis
Support VP- Finance and SVP of Finance preparing analysis and presentations
Manage group of Merchandising Analyst
SOAR and Financial Planning for the department
Support VP- Finance and SVP of Finance
Interfacing with Merchants/EVP/SVP/VP of Finance
NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to VP of Finance
Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Computer skills required to manipulate data and report information having a familiarity to SQL, IBM/DB2 tables, and relational databases.
Financial analysis and presentation skills
Retail accounting knowledge; Merchandising/Product knowledge
Technically proficient in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Access and Excel
Ability to understand Merchandising and influence decisions
