Responsible for guiding and managing a team Network Security Engineers. Responsible for the end-to-end product ownership of the enterprise core infrastructure and remote networks, including the design/architecture, definition and enforcement of standards, security, sustainability/scalability and operations of our current and next generation network security infrastructure. Managerial duties, such as recruiting/hiring, project/workload management, staff/team development, process definition, and performance management also apply. Maintains open communication channels with internal cross-functional teams to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Ensures completion of projects in a timely manner.
Oversees the design, installation, maintenance, and management of a large and complex Network Security infrastructure spanning multiple locations. Manages the engineering staff that is responsible for the design, testing, installation, and maintenance, including troubleshooting, of the various elements that comprise the enterprise-wide network based security technologies, to include network firewalls, UTM, IOS firewalls, and SSL/VPN/IPSEC on a 24X7 basis. Oversees the packet analytics function. Plans, develops and manage a capital, expense and cost center budget while developing standards and processes that can be implemented company-wide to improve reliability and reduce costs.
Implements engineering designs, standards, and best practice methodologies of the overall Network Security Infrastructure.
Oversees the design and implementation of new products, services, and technologies. Oversees proactive system capacity checks as part of normal surveillance activities, and ensures proper planning for growth.
Manages the engineering, configuration, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of network firewalls, UTM, IOS firewalls, and SSL/VPN/IPSEC environments.
Performs as a liaison between management and engineers for key or urgent issues.
Determines deficiencies in processes and/or procedures and evaluates, proposes and implements solutions.
Researches current network trends and evaluates their applicability to the company and/or our customers.
Works with outside vendors on new product offerings, pricing, support and availability of network security hardware and software.
Delegates projects to engineering staff, follows up on projects to completion and evaluates performance. Ensures the appropriate tools and resources are in place to enable your team to respond quickly to network outages and customer trouble reports.
Develops and mentors staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace. Promotes a sense of urgency in responding to any customer issues and ensuring network reliability and availability at all times.
Basic Qualifications & Interests
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 6 years of IT experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 10 years of IT experience
Experience designing, testing, scaling, troubleshooting, and analyzing security threats
Experience with equipment from more than one vendor, such as Cisco, CheckPoint, and Fortinet
Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives)
Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
At least 3 years of experience with technical aspects of routing such as Ethernet, DNS/DHCP, NTP, IPv4/6, VRRP, HSRP
Willing to work in a 24/7 environment
At least 2 years of experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP-S)/Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
At least 3 years of experience as a Network Security Engineer
Experience with Network Security Monitoring/Management Tools, such as Cisco Security Manager, Check Point CMA, FortiManager
Willing to travel up to 15% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
