Manager Prior Authorization

Summary: T he primary role of the Prior Authorization Manager is to lead the daily operations of the Prior Authorization Team to ensure that all requests are facilitated in a timely and accurately manner. The Manager will also assume responsibility for identifying and implementing process and technology improvements to drive the performance of the business.

Responsibilities :

Ensure accurate and timely processing of authorizations and scheduling requests.
  • Develop and implement key performance targets such as accuracy, productivity and timely processing.
  • Lead the teams in achieving performance targets.
  • Implement processes and technology as appropriate to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency in operations.
  • Conduct on-going analyses and assessments of operational performance for continuous systems and process improvements, improved efficiency, and improved customer service.
  • Collaborate with key hospital and practice staff on end to end process improvement.
  • Maintain current knowledge regarding industry best practices. Evaluate, identify, and recommend systems and practices that would enhance and improve Steward Direct processes. Implement as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of payor requirements.
Team Management
  • Ensure training and development of staff by identifying training needs and establishing initiatives to meet departmental, organizational and personal development goals.
  • Responsible for employee satisfaction and retention through practices that promote communication, rewards and recognition, teamwork and administration of effective employee relations practices.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels by interviewing, screening and selecting applicants to meet staffing requirements.
  • Conduct on-going analyses and assessments of operational performance for continuous systems and process improvements, improved efficiency, and improved customer service.
  • Maintain current knowledge regarding industry best practices. Evaluate, identify, and recommend systems and practices that would enhance and improve Steward Direct processes. Implement as appropriate.
Qualifications : Bachelors degree strongly preferred. 3-5 years management including 2-3 years in health care. Related experience highly preferred. Radiology Technician strongly preferred. MS Office.
