ConAgra's Milton, PA plant is a large food manufacturing complex with over 750 salaried and hourly team members. Hourly team members are represented by a union (UFCW). Milton produces ALL Chef Boyardee products (both canned and microwaveable) and Healthy Choice microwaveable soups. ConAgra Milton is ConAgra's largest cannery and the 4th largest cannery in North America.
Accountable for managing plant production activities across multiple shifts and/or departments to produce products that meet established quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. Implements standard work and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor, implementing autonomous maintenance. Oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability. SCOPE: Medium or small operations, or reports to Operations Manager in large operations. 5 years related experience.
Develop and execute department specific strategic vision, mission and objectives to assure continuous improvement and alignment with enterprise vision, mission and objectives.
Drive employee engagement, training and development to maximize safety, quality, and productivity.
Motivate and enhance skills of direct reports (4-5 Production Team leaders)
Provide direct oversight for the department.
Provide leadership for assessing and enhancing plant capabilities.
Develop and manage department budget including capital expenditures and cost management.
Assure regulatory compliance including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, USDA, FDA, FLSA, EEO, OFCCP and NLRB.
Ensure all quality standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded, drive continuous process / manufacturing improvements and collaborates with Research and Development in product development and implementation.
Develop a culture based on open / honest dialogue and involvement of all team members that demonstrates the value of their input / engagement in improving performance.
Provide leadership for diversity and positive community involvement / relations.
Drive a culture of high performance and accountability in employee and product safety as well as other aspects of the business.
Collaborate with Human Resources and other function leaders to create and execute effective employee relations processes and develop team leaders to do the same in order to maintain a positive working environment and support the labor relations philosophy.
Bachelor’s Degree required (i.e. Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, Food Science, Management, Operations, and Biology).
Lean (TPM) experience required.
Five years+ food or beverage manufacturing experience required.
Three years+ in a plant production management role required.
Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to work other shifts.
Strong leadership skills and continued focus on developing direct reports.
Ability to lead people and implement a Continuous Improvement mindset.
Union experience preferred.
Proven leadership competencies in addition to Ethics / Values and Integrity required.
Results driven, action oriented, and ability to problem solve with a strategic vision required.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation skills required.
Business, Analytical and Financial Acumen Required.
