Job Description

This position is responsible for managing the timely filing of Federal, State and Local withholding and employer related tax returns and deposits. Maintains current knowledge of withholding and unemployment tax laws for Federal, State and Local jurisdictions and maintains a broad knowledge of company systems and procedures that impact the tax area. Applies this knowledge to the preparation of tax return filings, tax accounting, audits and tax savings opportunities.
Principal Responsibilities

Monitor Federal, State and Local tax developments, informs constituents of changes impacting reporting and manages implementation of process changes as needed.

Partners with third-party providers to meet all statutory requirements and minimize employer tax exposure

Identifies process improvements and ensures appropriate maintenance and enhancements to the company’s Automated Tax Processing System (ATP) are implemented

Timely and accurate withholding tax returns and deposits in accordance with current Federal, State and Local withholding tax laws.

Certifies accuracy of all withholding tax accounts and ensures proper matching of withholding tax transaction within ATP to transactions in Recon Plus/Frontier.

Research and prepare responses to inquiries from Federal, State and Local tax authorities.

Coordinates Federal, State and Local withholding and unemployment tax audits.

Ensures that federal, state and local withholding tax reported on information returns balances to federal form 941 and 945 and state withholding returns, respectively

Utilize software and systems to improve quality of work process and increase efficiency.

Maintain a detail log of all tax filings and payments for management reports.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or CPA a plus.

Minimum 5-6 years of experience in tax compliance and audit.

Strong oral, written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills, leadership skills and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Knowledge of computer systems, PC’s and associated software packages

Experience using online tax research services
