Central Engineering is looking to hire a dedicated professional to lead the Information Technology team in the Administrative Services & Cost Management section. The selected candidate must be committed to delivering exemplary customer service, must possess strong organizational skills, have the ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities to meet deadlines. Must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of Commitment to Excellence. Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with various levels of management and union employees. Requires a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems and 5 years applicable experience which can include: working experience in areas such as system engineering, management and support of critical application computer projects, systems analysis, applications design, equipment specifications, vendor management, system implementation, documentation, network servers and user training. A Masters degree in a related field is preferred. Supervisory experience as well as knowledge in CAD (2D / 3D) systems and applications is desirable. Must understand the Software Development Lifecycle process and become familiar with Con Edison’s application development standards, guidelines and principles and patching policies. Candidate should be proficient with relational databases and have experience with Windows2000, OpenVMS, TCP/IP, and Microsoft Office Suite. Microsoft Certification preferred. Programming experience in areas such as Visual Basic, Visual C++, VBA, PERL, VBScript, JAVA, JavaScript, ODBC JDBC HTML COM, XML and CA-OpenRoad is highly desirable.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to lift 30 lbs. Occasional stooping, kneeling and working in tight spaces may be required.

Responsibilities: With minimal guidance the selected candidate ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Commits to the Way We Work Principles, and adheres to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. Manages the coordination of the design, development and implementation of computer applications to provide better utilization of organization resources and more efficient operation. Manages the systems being developed in-house or by vendors. Manages the coordination and analyses of operational job processes and flows for optimum use of computer applications and seeks out opportunities to computerize manual operations that can realize greater operating efficiency. Presents recommendations to upper management. Keeps abreast of latest computer technology so that Central Engineering can be provided state of the art systems / applications. Reviews product specifications of newly marketed hardware and software usage to realize greater operating efficiency. Provides technical direction to Central Engineering regarding online computer applications. Assures adherence to Company system standards. Coordinates the IT staff training requirements and provides applications training to Central Engineering personnel. Manages the installation and support of workstations and associated equipment, including CAD, for Central Engineering. Works with IR in support of all LAN / WAN problems for Central Engineering . Acts as a liaison between Central Engineering and Information Resources. Manages the activities of the IT staff related to troubleshooting, monthly preventative maintenance for all Central Engineering hardware and computer applications and coordinates tracking and responding to trouble tickets generated through the Help Desk. Coordinates organizational computer Hardware and Software requirements. Works closely with Section Manager in developing and tracking XM10 Budget. Performs Special Projects as requested by the Central Engineering leadership.
