MTV Networks is conducting an immediate search for a Manager, Scripted Production and Series Development, based in Santa Monica, our West Coast HQ. Primary duties include soliciting new ideas for series development and developing ideas for scripted series. Generating ideas internally and with 3 rd party producers are essential. Manage current production and programming responsibilities including supervising existing development and production from the paper development phase, through production, post production and delivery. Also, requires the tracking of competitive development and tracking pop culture and marketing trends consistent with the tone and style of the network.
Develop pilots and launch new primetime scripted series and movies
Oversee creative content for current scripted series projects, attend shoots and deliver feedback on creative treatments, scripts and cuts
Discover and research new talent, writers, producers and maintain relationships in creative community
Set up pitch meetings as well as develop pitch show ideas
Production and development liaison between internal network departments for Programming, Press, Marketing, Production Management, Music and Talent
Manage development process from concept to pilot production and pick-up process including budget and scheduling oversight.
B.A. Degree is preferred or equivalent work experience is required.
3-5 years previous experience at Management level in the areas of Scripted Series Development and Programming.
Must have knowledge of the creative process of television production and familiarity with pop and youth culture.
Must have strong relationships with agencies, artist representation and major entertainment studios.
Strong communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills are also required.
