The Manager of Corporate Partnerships is an exciting, new position at Western Washington University. The position will work to build meaningful, diverse relationships with the private sector and on behalf of the students of Western. The position is based in Seattle and will reside in Western’s office in Two Union Square. Regular travel is expected, including periodic trips to Bellingham. The Manager will report to, and collaborate with, two synergetic offices at the University: Academic & Career Development Services and University Advancement. The Manager is primarily responsible for implementing the university's efforts to coordinate and facilitate long-term relationships with corporate entities, with an emphasis on the Puget Sound area. This will involve maintaining existing relationships, building new relationships and advancing partnerships with corporations in the State of Washington and beyond. These alliances will build upon complementary strengths and needs in recruitment/hiring, internships, financial aid for students, research collaborations, and other areas of mutual interest.

Position Responsibilities:
As a representative of the Enrollment & Student Services division, the Manager will work closely with the Director of the Academic and Career Development Services and will be responsible for:
  • building and maintaining key relationships with external organizations as sources of career and internship opportunities for the students;
  • enhancing relationships and fostering partnerships with a broad base of University constituents, especially within the academic schools and colleges, to inform them of job market, career, and industry trends and employer/recruiting expectations;
  • collaborating with various University organizations and individuals such as alumni, faculty and Advancement representatives, to promote job networking and mentoring opportunities;
  • serving as the department’s Seattle-area coordinator for events such as employer visits, student trips, and occasionally hosting the Career Center’s Advisory Board meetings;
  • assisting with career fairs and other promotional events aimed at enhancing student career and internship opportunities.

As a representative of the Advancement division, the Manager will work closely with the Senior Director of Development and be responsible for:
  • planning and implementing a strategic fundraising effort for gifts from corporations at the Principal ($500K+) and Major gift ($25K+) level;
  • building, overseeing and administering a comprehensive Corporate Partners program for the University;
  • identifying key alumni, parents and other stakeholders within corporations;
  • representing the WWU Alumni Association by helping to plan and administer outreach efforts to Western alumni who are employees of key strategic corporate partners;
  • providing support to the WWU ‘Western in Puget Sound’ Committee of the Foundation Board and lend vision to the committee’s activities;
  • initiating opportunities for deans, faculty members and administrators to interact with corporate prospects;
  • developing highly competitive proposals for corporate prospects and leveraging diverse corporate goals and preferences in conjunction with university goals, including sponsorship opportunities;
  • maintaining a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate representatives, creating moves management plans related to them, compelling presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of experience in fundraising or a related field, such as marketing or sales
  • At least two years of successful experience in recruitment or employer relations demonstrated experience in relationship management with senior officers of corporations and ability to network with industry in- and out-of-state
  • Self-starter who is resourceful, energetic and collaborative
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, to track details, and to set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to facilitate team efforts in meeting deadlines and goals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree
  • Established contacts in the Puget Sound business community
  • Direct experience in employer relations or the recruitment of new college graduates
