NEA is seeking applications from highly skilled and motivated executives to manage an in-house creative services team.The Manager of Creative Services will lead the Association’s efforts in research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of integrated print, interactive and broadcast programs and products. The position reports to the Associate Director of Editorial and Creative Services. As a leader in the Center for Communications, the Creative Services Manager monitors, tracks, and delivers integrated campaigns and deliverables on time and on budget. S/he leads staff, writes creative briefs, production schedules, manages budgets and works collaboratively with print, interactive, and broadcast services staff to successfully implement communication tools and campaigns to raise

NEA’s profile among its internal and external audiences.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a communication-related field required

Minimum five years of experience managing the successful execution of print, broadcast, and interactive tactics, products, and programs.

Previous experience as a creative services senior-level staffer, manager, director or VP that included print, broadcast, and interactive vehicles.

Proven experience in creating, developing, and managing a full-service creative services team, unit or department responsible for developing a wide range of print, broadcast, and interactive campaigns and deliverables.

Proven strength in administration, business management, operations, client relations, and interactive and digital production.

Excellent written and presentation skills and an outgoing personality, able to bring energy and innovative thinking to the creative services team.

Superior verbal and communications skills.

Ability to deliver key messages successfully through professional quality creative work.

Strong collaborator with demonstrated experience in successfully working with peers; a proven, trusted and reliable team leader.

Ability to work well under pressure, with demonstrated success at working under deadlines with tight time frames and changing priorities.

Required Experience

Leads and supervises a team to include graphic designers, web designers and editors, and a media production group for video and audio.

Confers with creative, art, copywriting, or production department heads to discuss client requirements and presentation concepts and to coordinate creative activities.

Reviews and approve graphic design, artwork, illustrations, web design, videos and other creative materials designed by in-house staff.

Possesses strong knowledge of video production, as well as knowledge of current and future direction of web-based video, photography, and graphics.

Provides outstanding creative and internal client support, while maximizing efficiency of NEA operations by delivering creative products on time and on budget.

Champion integrated creative that incorporates NEA brand standards and key messaging to further NEA goals.

Establishes and maintains relationships with NEA internal clients as well as work with NEA state affiliate communicators and editors.

Proven track record with the coordination, supervision, and evaluation of work by external consultants and contractors.

Proactive in assessing the operational, staffing, and technology needs of an evolving creative unit.

Oversees critical project plans and schedules and works with team to ensure day-to-day project tasks and milestones are met.

Understands NEA’s mission, vision and goals, and familiarity with NEA’s message.
