As a representative of Protective Life, the position of Manager of Enterprise Document Generation will provide management and leadership to a team that supports Document Generation technologies. The position will be accountable for the delivery and support of Document Generation solutions that meet operational objectives and strategic business initiatives. The position will interface regularly with business areas, business analysts, application teams, infrastructure teams, Enterprise Architecture, and other areas as required.

  • Manages a team that delivers and supports document generated business solutions; this team will (a.) support software used for document generation, (b.) initiate and implement integration of that software with other applications, (c.) provide assistance to developers and business analysts in the use of the software and (d.) provide operational support and maintenance of the software
  • Manages multiple projects from inception to closure, including allocating resources, defining deliverables, establishing timelines, and managing risks
  • Leads the evaluation of new software and influences the selection of software
  • Works closely with system architects and developers to establish standards for document generation processes, including architecture design standards, forms standards, device-independent formatting (print, image, browser, etc.) standards and document storage/retrieval standards
  • Establishes and maintains System and Application Architecture documentation
  • Establishes and evolves Strategies and the supporting Roadmap Initiatives, including the identification, implementation, and management of Document Generation technology consolidation opportunities
  • Communicates Project updates, Strategies and Roadmap Initiative status to various levels within the organization as required
  • Establishes team goals, conducts performance reviews, creates opportunity to strengthen job knowledge/skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of Information Technology experience preferred
  • 3+ years of management, project management, or technical leadership role experience preferred
  • 3+ years of Document Generation technology/system experience (Exstream Dialogue preferred)
  • Problem solving and Analytical skill set with experience mapping business requirements to technical specifications required to develop effective document templates
  • Very organized, possesses strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrates a high standard of excellence
  • A proactive learner who utilizes new technologies and who can propose process improvements
  • A detail-oriented person who works well as part of a team and is customer-focused
  • An effective communicator of concepts to technical and non-technical staff
  • The ability to multi-task is essential, juggling multiple tasks and priorities
  • The ability to effectively estimate work and produce deliverables on time


  • Insurance or Financial Services industry experience
  • Print & Mail industry experience
  • Document Classification & Recognition (OCR) form design experience
  • Technical knowledge of relational databases and basic SQL hands-on experience
  • Technical knowledge of programming and basic Visual Basic or VBA hands-on experience
  • Technical knowledge and hands-on experience in Crystal Reports or Business Objects reporting tools
