Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health , founded in 1986, is an 83 bed facility within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health offers comprehensive mental health programs to the Commonwealth of Virginia. We provide psychiatrically and medically managed acute and residential treatment for children and adolescents with significant impairments in their social and emotional development. We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need using evidence based practice treatments. We are accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health currently has a Manager of Health Information Management position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

1. Develops standardized facility procedures for the maintenance, storage, handling, transfer, release and destruction of patient and resident records in accordance with state, federal, Joint Commission and other licensing and regulatory guidelines.

2. Provide supervision to Health Information Management Department Staff.

3. Prepares and maintains department budget.

4. Contributes to Quality Assurance and performance improvement of the organization.

5. Exercised judgment and decision making skills.

Education

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required; Registered Health Information Administrator preferred.

Experience

Two or more years medical/clinical records and supervisory experience.

Knowledge

Must possess knowledge of medical records science and health care delivery; health care laws and its requirements; Joint and other regulatory record requirements; operation of computer and dictation equipment; and good oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

General office setting with modern equipment within behavioral healthcare provider setting. Some risk involved in the event of an aggressive/out-of-control resident. . 80% of time, incumbent is seated and talking on the phone or using a computer. Must possess valid Virginia driver's license in requesting to operate company vehicles.
