POSITION SUMMARY :

The primary responsibility of the Manager of Accounting Projects is to evaluate and monitor non-routine complex accounting processes and to design/implement plans for optimization. This position directly supports the executive leadership team and provides project based support to complete business critical initiatives and address non routine accounting issues. The goal of this position is to maximize accounting process efficiencies, ensure compliance with GAAP and minimize risk.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES :

Demonstrates highest standards of personal and professional integrity, adheres to company’s policies and procedures, and complies with applicable laws, government rules and regulations.
·
Leads accounting due diligence efforts on potential non-asset acquisition targets.
·
Leads/coordinates review and/or implementation of improvements to accounting processes.
·
Works closely with departments in IABMA and other business units to identify and implement accounting policy/process improvements.
·
Leads the proper execution of purchase accounting requirements and alignment of accounting policies.
·
Assists in the coordination and integration of acquired companies.
·
Analyzes and researches new and emerging accounting requirements and their likely impact on Inland American’s reported results.
·
Communicates and provides guidance to business units to ensure compliance with new standards.
·
Updates and prepares accounting policy and process documentation.
·
Manages process improvement efforts related to accounting and financial reporting.
·
Prepares adhoc reports and analysis at the request of executive leadership.
·
Other duties as assigned.
·
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
·


This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent professional knowledge and/or work experience. A Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
·
This position requires 5 to 10 years of prior professional experience in real estate and/or public accounting.
·

The following certification is required for this position: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
·
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook are required for this position.
·
Intermediate skills in JD Edwards (or comparable general ledger software program) are required for this position.
·
Keyboarding skills are required for this position
·
Occasional (less than 20% of the time) overnight travel is required for this position.
