Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and with The Director of Human Resources , the Manager of Safety and Training responsibilities are to provide leadership to plan, organize OSHA authorized safety classes and determine what other training is needed in regards to safety. Ensure a safe working environment for our staff and temporary employees through a variety of sound practices and policies.
The position is based out of our corporate office in Bedford, NH, but the Manager of Safety and Training will be traveling to our clients throughout NH and MA.

Director of Safety and Training responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage, maintain, organize and instruct an up to date OSHA Authorized General Industry Safety Standards 10/30 hour card classes for staff, customers as well as required temporaries as needed.
Manage, maintain, organize and instruct an up to date Lockout/Tag-out class for requested customers and temporaries.
Manage, maintain, organize and instruct an up to date Forklift: Train the Trainer course for staff, customers as well as required temporaries.
Conduct safety check walk through for potential new customers to ensure that the work site is a safe environment and has sound health and safety practices and policies.
Conduct post-accident investigations, document, photograph accident site and make recommendations to correct the problem that caused the accident and communicate with customer to get written documentation that the issue has been resolved satisfactorily.
Work with the ARN workers compensation administrator on individual workers compensation claims, establish patterns of accidents that need to be addressed and assess the proper protocol. Work with insurance company and ARN workers compensation administrator to correspond and communicate with insurance company to determine how best to handle and close claims as soon as possible.
Prepare for, attend and represent ARS at any hearings related to workers compensation, accidents and/or safety issues. Includes meeting with legal counsel, if needed.
Create, manage and implement any safety related policies including the general safety and health program policy for ARS. Review and update plans yearly to ensure up to date compliance.
Create, manage and implement emergency procedures and evacuation plans, disaster preparedness plans etc.
Create, manage, maintain and organize an ARS Joint Loss Committee according to the requirements of either the State and/or insurance carriers. Must have minutes taken and shared at each meeting and maintained for possible inspection.
Conduct a safety walk through, yearly, at all of our office locations, to make sure the offices have no safety hazards and have satisfactory safety and health practices for both staff and visitors.
Ensure that new offices meet all safety and health requirements, including proper signage, evacuation plans etc.
Work with customers on any special safety and health related projects and training.
Create, manage, maintain and train workers compensation program and policies. Review annually to ensure they are up to date and are in compliance. This includes orientation process training for new employees covering workers compensation procedures and policies.
Proper drug testing procedures policy creation and demonstrations for staff.
Oversight of workers compensation administrator and all of the claims processed for ARS, ARN, PMSI and any other entities owned by Richard Purtell.
Oversight of all general duties of the workers compensation administrator in regards to workers compensation, safety and health.
Meet with executives, as required, to communicate and keep them up to date in regards to safety and health policies and procedures as well as the status of our workers compensation status and data. This includes creating and presenting reports.
Assist ARS/customers if there is an OSHA audit
Unexpired OSHA Authorized Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the General Industry certificate.
Unexpired Trainer course certificate in Occupational Safety and Health Standards
Preferred BA in Employee Health and Safety or equivalent degree or experience.
Unexpired Train the Trainer Forklift certificate.
First Aid and CPR training and certificate,
4 years experience minimum in safety and health supervisory position, safety and health training experience.
Post accident investigation or forensics training and certificate.
Lock Out/ Tag Out Train the Trainer training and certificate.
Must have experience writing, managing and implementing a company safety and health policy.
Must have had experience and responsibility for creating, managing and running a Joint Loss Committee.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have solid advanced computer skills, specifically with PowerPoint and excel.
Must have excellent internet research skills.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Moderate amount of travel required in and out of state
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to walk for long periods of time and distance
Must be able to bend, crouch and kneel for short periods of time during inspections
Must be able to speak/teach class for long periods of time
