Job Summary

The Portfolio Manager for Aequitas’ Multi-Strategy Income and Credit Fund (MuSIC) will report to the COO of Aequitas Investment management where this individual’s primary responsibility will be to lead manager selection, asset and transactional level due diligence and monitoring for the Fund. The individual will develop innovative strategic and tactical asset allocation strategy, including back-testing, forecasting, scenario analysis, rebalancing, risk management and performance attribution. This position also involves a high level of cross-functional coordination as MuSIC utilizes available shared resources within internal functional groups and strategic partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the private credit market, hedge fund and private equity manager due diligence, portfolio management, illiquid securities and global capital markets.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for raising funds in concert with the AIM VP Private Wealth Clients and with the EVP of FSG for indirect relationships
• Lead manager, asset and transactional due diligence for the Fund
• Qualify existing and new strategies and opportunities for the Fund, including assessing fees, liquidity and capacity for each strategy
• Manage and report on the overall investment risk of the Fund
• Communication, reporting and accountability to the COO for administrative matters and the CIO for Investment matters
• Coordination and project management of shared resources available to the Fund with both internal teams and outside partners
• Contribute to growth and sustainability of the Fund by assisting with client retention and investor relations activities
• Manage fund liquidity
• Ensure compliance with investment policies and procedures
• Help market the fund through meetings with select clients and prospects and speak at occasional industry forums and events
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the company

Education:

• BS/BA in Finance or related field
• CFA and/or MBA/Master’s Degree preferred

Experience:

• 10+ years of investment experience preferably within investment banking, private credit, hedge fund and/or private equity
• Considerable experience with manager underwriting
• 5+ years working with and/or evaluating illiquid securities
• Demonstrated ability to lead a Team and run a standalone Fund
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively along cross functional teams/resources

Knowledge, skills and abilities

• Executive presence and comfortable playing a leading role in driving execution, as well as leading the day to day activities of the Fund
• Working and deep knowledge of manager research and illiquid assets
• Ability to allocate, optimize and actively manage a portfolio of assets
• Hedge fund and/or private equity manager research experience
• Deep ability to analyze existing credits and originate new debt
• Comfortable driving a large cross-functional team
• Detail oriented with the ability to analyze data with a strategic focus
• Highly self-motivated and objective driven
• Hands-on with the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
• Flexibility to perform in an ever-changing work environment
