POSITION: Managing Director of Enforcement.
Basic Function : In collaboration with the other managing director of enforcement, this position manages the enforcement staff’s development of information and investigations.
Primary Responsibilities :
Assist the vice president of enforcement in the development and implementation of departmental initiatives and policies designed to fulfill the enforcement staff’s mission. An important function of this is to provide leadership within the department to ensure that the enforcement staff carries out its mission effectively and efficiently, and in conformance with the principles of fairness, accountability and integrity.
In collaboration and communication with the other managing director of enforcement, ensure that the enforcement staff effectively and efficiently develops, investigates and processes infractions cases.
Provide leadership and management for two directors of enforcement and an associate/assistant director of enforcement to ensure that their work and the supervision of their direct reports’ work is done effectively, efficiently and in conformance with the principles of fairness, accountability and integrity. Additionally, ensure that these directors are appropriately developing themselves and their direct reports.
Contribute to the leadership and management of the department’s hiring needs and ensure that new staff are properly oriented, trained and equipped for their work.
Support the department’s quality control efforts to ensure that the enforcement staff’s work product is always of the highest quality.
Specifically related to investigations, and in consultation with the other managing director of enforcement, provide leadership and oversight to ensure that this work is carried out effectively and efficiently, and builds toward the vision of creating a model investigative agency.
Supervise staff functions relating to certification of basketball events, officials' background checks and initiatives intended to combat sports wagering.
In consultation with the vice president of enforcement and other managing director of enforcement, coordinate and manage all case assignments on a regular basis.
Specifically related to development, provide leadership and oversight to ensure that the enforcement staff has an established area dedicated to development of knowledge, contacts and actionable leads. Provide oversight to all staff involved in development, and collaborate with the staff members' supervisors with direct feedback regarding the staff members' contributions to the department's development efforts.
Establish, develop and maintain relationships with constituents in an effort to assist the department with proactively developing potential leads and resource information.
In consultation with the vice president of enforcement, provide external outreach, support or education to the membership, media and general public.
As directed by the vice president of enforcement, provide internal service and support to national office initiatives and functions.
Complete special projects as assigned by the vice president of enforcement.
Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's degree (required) and advanced degree (preferred).
Strong leadership and managerial skills (essential).
Strong working knowledge and experience with the investigation and processing of infractions cases (essential).
Strong organizational and creative skills (essential).
Strong communication and collaboration skills (essential).

Internal : Enforcement staff, academic and membership affairs staff, as well as NCAA staff members in other groups and NCAA committees.
External : Included, but not limited to, coaches, institutional and athletics department staff members; high school athletics administrators; nonscholastic coaches; prospective and enrolled student-athletes; professional leagues; gambling industry personnel; members of the media; and any other source of information.
