Position Summary: The Credentialing Resource Center (CRC) Managing Editor writes, edits, researches, and manages projects for a wide variety of publishing mediums and is considered a subject matter expert in the area of credentialing.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and managing content for CRC newsletters, white papers, weekly e-newsletters (CRC Insider), audio conferences, Webcasts, and Web properties. Specifically, this position will oversee editorial management of the monthly newsletter ‘CRC Journal,’ with responsibility for content development, editing/rewriting, lay-out review, and quality control.
The managing editor is responsible for strengthening market knowledge and penetration by conducting focus groups, regularly cultivating relationships with sources and customers, observing market trends and making recommendations for product development, and conducting extensive market research for all product lines. Responsibilities also include managing applicable contributions from junior editorial staff and freelancers, and mentoring junior staff members to improve editorial content quality, style, voice, and market knowledge, as well as serving as lead project manager for assigned products.
The managing editor reports to the Associate Editorial Director and manages or contributes to projects independently, with some oversight from senior editorial staff.
Must possess excellent writing, editing, research, and communication skills, a demonstrated record of project management skills, and an independent work ethic. Knowledge of credentialing is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree, 4-8 years of experience in publishing or similar industry.
