To support the Plant Finance Manager and staff in all aspects of plant accounting, adherence to corporate policies and procedures, and continuous improvement. Assists management in training of levels of staff to be cost conscious and to understand the budgeting and reporting processes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Plays a key role in preparing the annual plant budget and quarterly projections, forecasting expenses and developing activity rates.
Prepares weekly, monthly and year-to-date labor and expense management reports.
Maintains records on, analyzes and reports on plant production activity.
Reviews monthly cost statements and coordinates necessary correcting entries in support of month end and year end close.
Analyzes actual performance compared to budget and quarterly projections.
Gatekeeper for accounts payable, assigning invoices to appropriate purchaser for coding and approval.
Educates and responds to inquiries from department managers and supervisors about their cost center spending.
Supports the investment authorization request process by assisting in the analysis of new capital proposals.
Reviews capital project spending for final submission and project close.
Performs post-audits of major capitals for achievement of financial goals.
Coordinates and monitors plant fixed asset reporting.
Audits fixed assets for existence, as required by company policy.
Assists in monitoring and controlling inventory. Acts as a liaison between the plant and corporate cost accounting on various inventory issues.
Maintains and verifies accuracy of inventory existence records by taking physical cycle counts and statistical inventory audits.
A. Monitors inventory write-offs and adjustments.
B. Monitors and reports on material scrapped.
C. Initiates all Vendor Quality Notification charge-backs.
Audits and performs SOX internal controls to ensure that compliance is being sustained.
Coordinates plant reporting requirements with IS to ensure adequate and timely support.
Performs miscellaneous financial projects as assigned.
Applies “Total Quality” principles in the daily performance of the job.
B.S. degree in Business Administration / Accounting, with at least five years manufacturing/operations/cost accounting experience. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in fluid manufacturing environment. Ability to problem solve, research, analyze and interpret data. Ability to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
