Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer prepares operation sheets for fabrication of new, re-designed, and specially designed parts and coordinates facility-related functions with the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:
Issue tooling orders to Tool Room group leader for any new dies, jigs, or fixtures as required by the Production Manager.

Assign tool room dies to tool maker or machinist for the appropriate tooling order.

Estimate time and costs for completing tooling orders.

Issue tooling repair orders to group leaders and expedite repairs per production requests.

Study special part or product work orders received from Plant Office and issue such work orders to Sample Department group leader. Discuss details of building the product or parts of the work order and assign it to the sample maker. Write up operation sheets as required.

Prepare economical methods of fabricating new parts for production quantities from prints; write operation sheets ("travelers") accordingly.

Evaluate new equipment and tools available in the market for possible use in the plant to improve productivity. Special project assignments.

Coordinate and function amicably with production Supervisors, Engineering Department, and Purchasing Department.

Conduct time and methods studies.

Time study projects to improve efficiencies in the production environment

Traveler writing on custom software within a MAPICS system

Prepare capital equipment justification (AFE) as required.

Train as back-up on turret press programming and EDM Wire machine.

Conduct self to promote the best interests of the Company.

Qualifications include:
A minimum three (+) years of experience in sheet metal fabrication/production environment with modern CNC equipment. Lighting industry work experience is a plus.

A B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is needed.

SAP knowledge in a manufacturing facility is desired.

Must have strong interpersonal skills.

Must present a professional manner and appearance.

Must maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Must be conscientious.

Must possess the knowledge and ability to evaluate, investigate, and recommend manufacturing changes to improve quality and efficiency.

The ability to prepare conceptual designs for simple and progressive dies, jigs, fixtures, and tooling for sheet metal fabrication/production equipment is a plus.

Must possess the knowledge and ability to guide in building parts and products from blueprints and in use of tools and equipment.

Must possess the knowledge and ability to learn software programs to program CNC equipment

Must possess the knowledge and ability to program in current AutoCad version..

Expertise in computer (PC) equipment and methodology related to plant operations is desired.

Time Study experience is needed.

Experience with SAP routers, material, BOM’s, Change Numbers and Document Info Records is a plus.

Additional information:
Will be required to provide plant supervision on periodic Saturdays, by turn with other supervisors in a pre-set rotation schedule.
