ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and develop methods, procedures and schedules to conduct a continuously improving quality process.

Take a leading role in the further establishment of creating an environment where there is a Total Quality attitude and behavior.

Work with the materials group in cost and inventory reduction projects.

Work with the materials group to streamline flow of products.

Work with the materials group and product management to reduce product and transactional costs.

Work with the materials group and product management to improve internal processes and allow increasing inventory turns.

Using manufacturing engineering practices, you are responsible for writing routings/manufacturing instructions.

Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena.

Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.

Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.

Evaluate and approve drawings, routings / MI’s, specs and other documents.

Design and procure tools/equipment.

Process development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions.

Support prototyping activities of new product development.

Evaluate and solve production problems.

Manage production operations including all activities of the shop floor and follow established procedures and approved processes.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Understanding of Lean Principles as put forth by the Altra Business System. Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with a concentration in manufacturing / tooling; with three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Must have knowledge machining and assembly practices, tools and fixturing.

Ability to work with vendors, customers, and employees.

Must excel at working in a team environment.

Must be familiar with product construction and application.

Must have complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.

This position requires that the person be a highly organized individual, who is self-motivated, and can work independently.

Must have very strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills, including group presentations.

Must be able to manage multiple tasks and or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.

Will be computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.
