The Manufacturing Weld Engineer is responsible aiding in the development of new welding processes and procedures; supporting production through the development of welding instructions and trouble shooting of weld issues; and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering department with welding related capital projects (i.e. welding automation/robotic cells).
Ø Develop and write AWS D1.1 compliant weld procedures to support new product development and cost take-out initiatives for existing product.
Ø Continually evaluate and develop manufacturing and welding methods to eliminate waste and thereby improve product quality, lead-time, cost, and safety.
Ø Assist with the training and evaluation of newly hired welders.
Ø Review of new and existing product designs and drawings for improvements to reduce cost and lead time and improve manufacturability.
Ø Assist with the review and evaluation process for new welding equipment and consumables prior to purchase and use in production.
Ø Develop, maintain, and document manufacturing and welding processes and work instructions that conform to Hagie documentation standards.
Ø Maintain routings and B.O.M’s
Ø Establish personnel requirements, line balancing, and time performance standards
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, Weld Engineering preferred.
Ø Experience in welding or metallurgy preferred.
Ø AWS, CWI and/or CWE is a plus.
Ø Must have basic computer and blue print reading skills and be proficient in Excel, Power Point, and Word.
Experience with CAD software is plus
