Responsible for manufacturing methods including:
Manufacturing process development and implementation
Introduction of new products from design into manufacture
Ongoing process improvement projects
Work station design
Manufacturing quality improvements
Tooling and processing requirements
Identifying equipment needs:
Forecast capital requirements,
Lead equipment selection, specification, justification, and implementation activities
Attention to safety, ergonomics and compliance with applicable environmental regulations
Product Line Support
Support new product introductions including:
Attending design reviews
Ensure proper attention is given to efficient manufacturing methods
Ensure new designs have incorporated efficient and current manufacturing techniques and methods
Provide line layouts for efficient manufacturing flow.
Support the resolution of issues and processing problems on existing products including:
Addressing recurring quality issues
Investigating, engineering and recommending design changes as needed to address processing issues. Work with design engineers to process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) with customers.
Initiate process improvements - Interface with other departments on implementation.
Focus on constraint operations - Identify and assist in the removal of obstacles.
Responsible for capacity and capability analysis of manufacturing processes
Implement Lean Manufacturing methods to drive for operational excellence and the relentless elimination of waste.
Assist in meeting the manufacturing plan
Track and report operational results
Documentation and Training
Responsible to develop, document, and implement manufacturing instructions, layouts and procedures including:
Ensure understanding of documentation by end-users
- Incoming quality verification, work content, and outgoing quality checks
- Ensure work place instructions and guides are visible and documentation is controlled
Participate in the training and certification of operators at key operations.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and internal GSS quality policies and procedures
Education/ Required: Credentials
Required: 4 year college/university education in technical field (mfg. or industrial related), or equivalent experience.
Required: At least 4 years professional engineering/manufacturing engineering experience.
Special Kno wledge/
Required: Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical issues. Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods. Working knowledge of lean principles and tools
