Job Descriptions:
Phillips Manufacturing, one of the nation’s foremost names in the custom drywall and plaster components industry and growing within the roofing metals industry is looking for talent to join our team.
Specifically, we are currently searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of our location in Niles, Ohio.
The following is additional information designed to assist you in determining if you would like to be considered as a candidate for this opportunity:


Plan, design, investigate, experiment, analyze, and execute various engineering projects to improve the manufacturing process. Communicate project status in written reports, as well as, verbal reports in status meetings. Develop knowledge of pertinent product industry specifications, oversee metal fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards Work could possibly result in new or improved systems, products, processes, or new equipment. Work could also involve building maintenance, regulatory compliance and building improvement activities.

Essential Functions:
Systematically analyzes processes and methods, identifies improvement opportunities and recommends solution plan. Focus is on expense reduction, efficiency gain, quality defect reduction, and uptime improvement.
Independently or as a part of a team effort, plans and completes projects/assignments in a timely manner.
Plan, develop and maintain documentation/programs on processes and procedures pertaining to aspects of the manufacturing operation. This can include, but not be limited to, areas of work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment, quality control and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality, reliability, and minimize costs.
Investigate and analyze customer complaints. Identify root cause and recommend manufacturing process adjustment/changes to prevent recurrence.
Oversee, lead and guide the skilled trades department at the Niles facility ensuring its efficient and effective involvement with the production operation.
Maintain all documentation and control changes by Engineering Change Order (ECO) and/or Engineering Change Notice (ECN).
Work with vendors to determine part/product specifications and tolerance requirements. Prepare cost estimates and perform purchasing for part repairs, new equipment and contract work.
Keep engineer and manufacturing management team informed on status or progress of projects/items or other consideration to facilitate the production processes.
Maintain information and knowledge on technology that can improve present processes or be used to implement new products.
Design new equipment, machinery and/or tooling for the production of new products or improved production and/or quality of existing products. Design and detail tooling, equipment, control circuits, etc. Calibration of tools and equipment as necessary to support product requirements.

Required Experience:
Job Specifications:
Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and requirements.
Ability to work with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to read blue prints, to operate Auto Cad software.
Ability to operate a tape measure, micrometer, ruler and other precision measuring equipment.
Ability to operate a computer system, telephone, calculator, copier, fax and other office equipment.

2-6 years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment with plant, process, equipment design and fabrication results. PLC programming experience a plus.

Mechanical or Engineering BS Degree required

Work Conditions:
Works from a normal office setting, however performs a significant amount of work in all spaces within all facilities; may need to work outside in all types of weather or in all kinds of work environments.
