The Manufacturing Engineer supports the Fabrication Value Stream’s mission to be the center of Operational Excellence delivering the highest level of customer satisfaction by focusing on continuous improvement activities, elimination of waste and root cause problem solving.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Develop project plan and assume full responsibility for all aspects of the project to insure it meets goals and schedule. Communicate project status, follow up and implement standard work to ensure project results are sustained.
Work with operators, team leads, supervisors and value stream managers to optimize layout and material flow.
Use lean tools, A3 Problem Solving, lead kaizen events, value stream mapping to identify and eliminate the 8 forms of waste and drive safety improvements.
Support manufacturing objectives with New Product Design (NPD) during design reviews for manufacturability.
Interpret engineering prints to develop manufacturing processes, CNC programs, and process documentation for machining.
Supports the manufacturing departments in development of tooling and fixturing.
Work with Quality Engineering to develop capable processes to support and maintain a continuous flow of quality products to our customer.
Identify, support, and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projects.
Research, justify and successfully implement capital improvements.
Cost estimate products using most economical manufacturing methods.
Create and maintain accurate information within all manufacturing systems relative to engineering responsibilities.
Manage projects to develop new technologies and processes.
Shop floor engagement to exceed 50% of total time.

Knowledge of ISO 9000, statistical process control, lathe and mill machining practices, properties of materials, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, production machinery and tooling, modern fabrication and assembly techniques and machine shop practices is required.
A complete understanding of machining processes and operation of CNC equipment is required.
Root cause analysis and development of appropriate corrective actions.
Project management skills and experience.
Experienced in lean manufacturing techniques and set-up reduction is desirable.
Efficiently integrate existing methods with new innovations, and communicate effectively at all levels.
MasterCam X6, Mastercam Postprocessing experience desired.
Solidworks and/or similar CAD software experience is desirable.
Manufacturing Design Review (MDR), DFM/DFA experience.
Must be able to work independently and in a group environment.
Proven track record of innovation, ingenuity, creativity, attention to detail, ownership, integrity, accountability, and willingness to seek and take on challenges is required.
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or technology.
Work experience to include a minimum 5 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in a machining environment.
