Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Fuel Systems)
position located in
Plant leadership staff level position that manages the planning, designing, purchasing, and/or implementation of integrated manufacturing assembly or fabrication processes (precision machining) in a manufacturing plant.
Manages Manufacturing and Industrial Engineers and related departmental activities; establishes performance standards; formulates staff development plans; coaches and motivates staff; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments considering employee skills and development needs.
Manages significant change initiatives in the facility.
Identifies training needs for team and line employees, conducts training; coaches and trains line employees on new manufacturing processes and methodologies.
Identifies opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives including capital and capacity planning; drives change in the department.
Provides technical consultation and advice to staff and project teams.
Engineering Bachelor’s Degree (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electrical) Required. Master’s or MBA also a significant plus.
10+ years of experience managing teams within a manufacturing and/or precision machining environment
Experience leading capital equipment purchasing, highly preferred
Experience with equipment efficiency improvements is highly preferred
Must be self-directed, self-motivated and have the leadership skills necessary to develop and implement manufacturing engineering functional excellence for a large group of manufacturing engineers.
Candidate should have previous precision machining experience with the ability to learn quickly within a complex plant.
Candidate will also manage the capital planning budget for the Fuel Systems Plant.
Candidate must be able to balance workload between day to day support of operations, project planning, forward thinking/visionary planning and execution of those plans to develop the ME organization within Fuel Systems further into a world class organization.
Candidate must be able to support the Operations Excellence initiatives within the plant and work very closely with our Operations organization to implement lean manufacturing methodology.
Candidate must also have a strong understanding of ISO/TS16949 quality standards and work very closely with the Quality organization to further process capability, shop floor SPC initiatives and quality system improvements.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
