Position Summary:

Directs and oversees controller functions for all MOM Brands plant facilities. Overall management of Manufacturing Finance strategy and execution; including the development, analysis, control and maintenance of financial information for use as a business tool by manufacturing management to measure performance, improve operating costs, analyze capital expenditures and contribute to achieving cost and return on investment goals. This position supports the VP & Corporate Controller in the development, coordination and implementation of the short term and long term operating expense and capital budgets. The Manufacturing Finance Controller also collaborates with other leaders to facilitate effective and efficient integration of all plant location budget processes.

The position will recommend and implement necessary improvements and transition the company toward best-in-class financial manufacturing practices. This position is also responsible for the integrity of the manufacturing financial results.

The Manufacturing Finance Controller serves as the liaison between manufacturing operations and Corporate Finance and Accounting concerning financial issues, as well as serves as a key member of the total company financial management group to develop and improve consistent procedures and strategies.

This position reports to our VP & Corporate Controller with a strong dotted line reporting relationship to the V.P. Operational Excellence.

Major Job Activities/Duties:

  • Strategic financial leadership in the development of manufacturing operations business plans, expense and capital spending budgets and attainment of those budgets.
  • Plans and develops controls to project production performance related to forecast including labor performance, ingredient usage and waste, and packaging material usage and waste. Develops control processes and procedures for JDE work order review and analysis. Works closely with Supply Chain to balance optimal inventory levels against operating costs and efficiencies.
  • Develops systems and procedures to accurately measure inventory and manufacturing costs and produces accurate financial reports on a timely basis.
  • Develops controls and analyzes results regarding 3 rd party manufacturing locations and post production assembly operations.
  • Provides leadership in recommending and implementing systems solutions to provide manufacturing management with information to improve operating results.
  • Reviews manufacturing capital appropriation requests to determine whether Return on Investment and payback period meets/exceeds corporate guidelines. Performs post-project analysis to determine if project returns meet estimated objectives. Participates in all capital spending reviews for operations.
  • Establishes and maintains adequate internal controls to safeguard inventory and fixed assets.
  • Provides advice and counsel on accounting matters to Plant Management including methods to address profit improvement, constraint related issues, and new business opportunities.
  • Supervise fixed assets and plant inventory control, functions for all manufacturing locations.
  • Reviews and advises on Plant incentive plans and measurements.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to hire, and conduct performance reviews, and motivate staff.
  • Supervises a staff of four (two Plant Controllers, a Manufacturing Financial Analyst and a Manufacturing Inventory Control Manager

  • Job Requirements:
    • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA, CMA or MBA. 7+ years of accounting experience in multi-plant, process manufacturing environment.
    • Strong experience in manufacturing and cost accounting in a standard cost environment is beneficial.
    • Experience working in a high growth, high change environment is helpful.
    • Ability to drive change and to communicate well with all levels of the organization is required. Supervisory experience is needed to lead and coach direct reports.
    • Experience with lean accounting and six sigma processes is desired.
    • Strong analytical skills combined with demonstrated spreadsheet skills is also required.
