DESCRIPTION

Clearfield, Inc. (CLFD) designs, manufactures and distributes fiber optic management products for the communications networks of leading ILECS, CLECs, MSO/cable TV companies and mobile broadband providers. We help service providers solve the Fiber Puzzle, which is how to reduce high costs associated with deploying, managing, protecting and scaling a fiber optic network to deliver the mobile, residential and business services customers want. Based on the patented Clearview(TM) Cassette, our unique single-architected, modular fiber management platform is designed to lower the cost of broadband deployment and maintenance by consolidating, protecting and distributing incoming and outgoing fiber circuits and enable our customers to scale their operations as their subscriber revenues increase. Headquartered in Plymouth, MN, Clearfield deploys millions of fiber ports each year throughout North America.

DUTIES

1. Plans, organizes, and manages the day to day activities of manufacturing and warehouse.
  • Develop the manufacturing plan and manage procedures for maintaining high standards of operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Works closely with materials management and quality management staff to ensure customer needs and specifications are met.
  • Partner with the Engineering team providing input on design for manufacturability and reparability and with Product Management to ensure the timely and successful transfer of new product launches to manufacturing.
  • Manages policy deployment in the areas of operational excellence, lean manufacturing techniques, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, and plant performance measures within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Initiate and coordinate facility related projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.)
  • Leads problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships.
  • Monitor data and ensure that company standards are achieved for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OSHA, safety, and complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
  • Develop and formulate long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
2. Manage direct reports to accomplish goals of the operations plan consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Act as liaison between department managers/subordinate levels, as well as executive levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
  • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Manage and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.)
  • Advise subordinates to help meet established schedules or resolve planning, scheduling, production, or operation problems.
  • Identify, recommend and implement standards to improve productivity and reduce cost, scrap, and rework.
  • Work effectively and relate well with others. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Ensure that all personnel comply with work standards, policies, and procedures.
3. Maintain awareness and knowledge of new manufacturing technology trends, capabilities and equipment and communicate those to the Clearfield executive team.

4. Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in co-operation with the executive team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years manufacturing management experience in ISO compliant facility.
  • A demonstrated ability to identify strategic roles and empower the best people for the team
  • Ability to present proposed solutions to high-level customers and executive team.
  • Balance long term and short term perspective with tactical understanding and creativity that delivers a clear vision.
  • Set high ethical standards for self and others.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving improvement in the operation area using the tools of Lean manufacturing, Six-sigma, Theory of Constraints, and other methodologies.
  • Demonstrated skill in the areas of delegation, process management, business acumen, problem solving, managing multiple projects, and making timely, high-quality decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Prior experience in materials management.
  • MRP & ERP experience
