POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of the Department Supervisor is to direct and coordinate activities of the department to ensure they operate in a safe and efficient manner to meet the weekly production schedule.

First Shift – (Monday-Friday 5:00am-3:30pm*) Saturdays as needed (*Listed hours are averages only. Department Supervisors must be flexible with department demands.)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety / Food Safety
•Adheres to and enforces all department guidelines with regard to employee, hygiene and product safety.
•Adheres to and enforces all safety rules, QA guidelines, PPE policies and, if applicable, RTE procedures.
•Adheres to and enforces the proper usage/wearing of all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Ensures that all employee PPE is properly cleaned on a daily basis.
Production
•Learns all aspects of the department and product specifications in order to ensure proper quality and/or packaging of product.
•Ensures that all products produced within the departments meet Hatfield's quality standards and product specifications.
•Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department production schedules.
•Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for production.
•Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance.
•Adheres to and enforces all HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and departmental cross-contamination guidelines.
•Knows how to troubleshoot production or mechanical problems that might arise. Contacts the necessary individuals if the problem cannot be immediately corrected.
•Inspects machines and equipment to ensure operational performance and efficiency.
Quality
•Is responsible for the removal of any unacceptable product from the line at any point of the production process. Recycles or disposes according to company or departmental guidelines.
•Must immediately stop and correct team members when a safety, quality, or company policy violation is observed.
•Is responsible for all positions / areas within the department, maintaining a neat and clean work environment at all times.
Training/Team Member Relations
•Is responsible for successfully integrating new team members into the department.
•Trains / mentors new team members regarding proper product specifications.
•Leads by example while also acting as mentor to others within the department.
•Trains / mentors Team Leads in all aspects of the department in order to ensure the departments operate properly in the absence of the Supervisor.
•Addresses and documents team member issues such as, but not limited to: attendance, performance, etc.
•Is responsible for yearly evaluation (performance reviews) of all team members within respective areas.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Prior manufacturing experience, required
•Prior manufacturing management experience preferred. Meat processing experience highly preferred.
•This position requires standing, bending, lifting, and walking for 10- to 12-hour shifts.
•Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality required.
•Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and effective communication skills are required and ability to work as a team.
•Must be able to work with numbers and analyze data. Must have familiarity with computers and be able to follow instructions within a Windows software program.
