When you join team Caterpillar as a Manufacturing Project Engineer, you will be expected to provide technical expertise and guidance in development of major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness. Key duties will likely include:
Job duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Develop and validate common torque tools & processes for global usage
Develop torque tooling & processes requirements for key systems and/or manufacturing assembly processes (i.e., engine decking, hydraulic tank install, brake lines, hoses, etc.)
Develop new torque processes and requirements for manufacturing and design groups
Work in conjuction with Global Purchasing, manufacturing facilities, and tooling suppliers to identify equipment for optimizing Caterpillar's manufacturing processes.
Lead and support CPS CAVe initiatives to support business unit performance.
Release and maintain corporate “Manufacturing Requirements” covering those standardized common to torque processes
Author new & update existing corporate manufacturing requirements & procedures as needed
Subject matter expert in strategic manufacturing planning as applied to new capital programs (new facility startups, new process development)
Subject matter expert in Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), a DMEDI-type approach to layout development, supporting and training team members and internal customers.
Identify and create common processes and standard work for scoping and executing manufacturing projects for internal customers.
Will ensure the integration of CPS principles into new and/or existing manufacturing processes

4 year BS in Engineering or Technology.
Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing engineering / planning job role.
Demonstrated experience in manufacturing assembly & torque processes.
Demonstrated experience in process flow and manufacturing process layout.
Demonstrated ability to execute and facilitate the manufacturing deliverables of manufacturing organization.
Experience in selection of tooling, run-off, installation, and validation of torque tooling processes including DC tools.
Demonstrated ability to work with the facilities to define their support needs and provide required results that meet/exceed the needs.
Proven track record of coaching and leading teams.
Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team environment across matrix organization.
Strong change management and program management skills.
Strong customer focus and service skills are required for this position.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication / presentation skills.
6 Sigma Greenbelt Certified.
Flexible schedule for travel to customer locations and support manufacturing strategy, planning, and launch activities (up to 50% travel domestic and international).
6 Sigma Blackbelt Certified.
Prior experiences in major capital programs or new plant start up projects.
Working capability with Caterpillar’s NCI process and CMS system.
Working capability in manufacturing systems (MESA, CAPP+, Teamcenter / VPP, etc.)
Working capability in FMEA and APQP processes.
Demonstrated capability in AutoCAD v9/v10.
